This cross must have been 20 feet tall just standing by it's self with nothing around.
An History place, maybe ? Nice shot.

Very nice capture, also like your angle. There is some sort of light around the top part of the cross, did you photoshopped it or is it original? Interesting phenomena! The skies are perfect for this kind of shot, well done!

@Ina: Thanks Ina. I did a little HDR on this and that tends to give it that glow.

Not to be critical, I think like photography in general, and HDR imagery, is largely a matter of taste; however, haloing is considered a sign of pushing the process too far by many of the HDR groups on Flickr. I have personally had photos removed from JPG Magazine due to haloing. I think it depends on the image and the effect you're seeking.

@Twelvebit: In general I'm not crazy about haloing and I'll only let it slide if it's the only way to get the rest of the image the way I want it. Even then I might not post it. For whatever reason I thought it added something to this image.
Cool hdr image! I've been wanting to do some of that, too. Which software are you using?

THAT is an OUTSTANDING image!! IMHO... that haloing is perfect for such a symbolic icon as the cross is... parables are a great thing.
I didn't get a chance to finish looking at everything as I was interrupted when I'd left the comment on the pooch post... am now finishing.. hopefully... LOL
