Lookout!!!!!!

I have always wanted to spend a season in a lookout tower. I think it would be a real challenge of spirit.
Besides the loneliness, they say being up there in a thunderstorm will scare the daylights out of you.
I'll be looking forward to it.

When I saw this, I thought of the start on 'On the road' by Jack Kerouac, where he lived up in one of those fire lookouts one summer. We don't really have them over here, so I guess its a bit like living in a lighthouse off the coast, which I would think would pose a similar kind of challenge.

That's a pretty big tower, I guess with all the home comforts...? But in a thunderstorm it would be exciting to say the least. Great shot Gary, good details.

That's a pretty big tower. What solitude and beauty you would have if you spent a season there. Kind of romantic and scary. Especially during a thunder and lightening storm, but it would also be thrilling. Love the picture Gary.

There are a few towers around Rocky... one in particular up on Old Baldy out at Nordegg. They have a lookout person up there from May until October. I've always thought it would a job worth having for at least one season as long as I had a lot of books and some good tunes. Really cool shot of this one, Gary. Hope you have taken a shot from the tower, too. And again... thanks for the limerick.... I peed my pants when I read it!!
